You can save a few dollars while visiting Maui by renting your car from a local company instead of one of the national chains. May we suggest Word of Mouth Rent-A-Car. Their well maintained fleet of about 300 vehicles includes 2 to 3 year old Corollas, Sentras and Neons. Rates are quite reasonable. Last January we rented a nearly new Dodge Neon for less than $30 per day including tax.
Reservations are easy, just call them (800-533-5929) and tell them the dates you want the car and they reserve it for you. No deposits or credit card information is required.
Pick up is simple. After arriving at Kahului Airport, give them call once you have your baggage and they’ll pick you up curbside and take you to their office 5 minutes away. A credit card serves as a guarantee. They load your luggage into the car and you’re on your way. Your card is not charged until you return the vehicle.
